FIGHTING THE INDEPENDENT FIGHT

The increased spread of knowledge has always correlated with the increased mixing and merging of different individuals and their ideas.
For proof of all of the things that have fallen victim to the powers of merging throughout the years, head over to your fridge and grab that peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Strap on those rollerblades. Stop painting with the three primary colors, and mix that paint. Play Capcom VS. SNK. Watch Freddy Vs. Jason (Okay, no one said merging is always good). Eat a “Grapple,” an apple that tastes like a grape. Listen to Gym Class Heroes or Velvet Revolver. Hug a transgendered individual. Embrace the existence of an interracial relationship. Bask in rain on a sunny day. Snowboard. Wear pinstripes with plaid. Build a castle. Buy chocolate-covered gummy bears. Be a Christian who believes in Buddhist philosophies, or an athiest who believes in Christian philosophies. Watch badly dubbed movies. Shop for vintage clothing and buy antique furniture...
The list is literally endless. Love it or hate it, change by merging is a phenomenon that cannot be stopped, and it permeates every way of life. Enjoy the idea that mixing two extremely vivid and bold colors like blue and red can create something as drastically different and wonderful as purple, and keep that in mind as we explore a number of ways that merging affects our lives.
