Do you have a problem with any musicians? I don’t really have a problem with them; I just can’t stand them. I don’t know any of them, but Simple Plan - they just drive me crazy.

That’s fine. Simple Plan went from garage to three tour buses, you know? Then they pull the Indie card. “We’re Indie.” I’m just like, “Bullshit.” If you ever need your parent’s gas card to feed your band, then you’re Indie.
Do you like your latest record more than your others?
Yeah, cause it’s heavier. It’s more fun to play heavy songs and dance songs live. Pop songs are like, “Does it sound alright?” But with heavy songs, it’s like, fuck it. With dance songs, people just kind of like stare at me, and they’re like, “What the fuck are you doing?” and it’s like, “I’m making dance music, God!”
Ever think about a country track?
I did a country track called “Boot To The Moon.” But on the Japanese release, it’s called “Boot To The Spoons.”
Did you ever steal anything from The Get Up Kids or maybe pseudo-steal? Or vice versa?
No, never. They get to claim Reggie songs first. If it ends up sounding more like a Reggie song, we’ll just keep it there, unless we re-write it for The Get Up Kids or something.
How do you feel about The Get Up Kids breaking up?
We just want everyone to know that we still get along. Matt just wants to move on. He has two little girls; he wants to be a dad, not a dead-beat dad.
Who did you listen to growing up?
Uh, I’ve listened to Duran Duran. [Been in the] Def Leopard’s Fan Club since I was nine. The weird thing is that they’ve just re-kindled the Duran Duran Fan Club, so I got shit in the mail at my parent’s house – like a membership card and all this stuff. Um, then I started listening to Seven Seconds. Dead Kennedys. My first show was Seven Seconds and a week later, I saw Helmet on the Mean Time Tour.
How long does it usually take for you to finish a record?
Like two weeks.
How do Skittles feel on the bareness of your posterier?
Um... creepy. Especially when it gets warm.
Gets sticky?
Yeah. Definitely sticky.
Any advice to aspiring musicians?
Tour, all the time.
What about online resources?
Oh yeah, file sharing and stuff is the best thing you can do. It gets your music out if you’re an unknown band. And really, kids who are going to buy your record will buy it, and kids who are going to steal it will steal it. You can’t stop it. There’s no possible way to stop it.
Are the Common Denominators ever going to release a full length album?
They’ve talked about doing a split with Fluxuation. It’s just a matter of how much time I get.
