FIGHTING THE INDEPENDENT FIGHT

In the past, young talent was often undiscovered, underrepresented, and underestimated. However, increased technology has given artists of all ages, styles, and experience levels the opportunity to have their work showcased.
We present to you the photography of 17 year old Karolina Donasewicz from Vancouver, BC. In the next year, she will be attending college and hopefully studying general arts and then transferring into medicine.
She began to dabble in photography only two years ago, and is completely self-taught. “I kind of walk to the beat of my own drum,” she says. “I try to my best to make my ideas my own. No one else else’s photography interests me - in fact, photography plain bores me, except for David LaChapelle’s. But to me, he tries too hard.”
Her main outlet is fashion photography, but finds that models are often not readily available, and clothing is often too expensive. She also takes nature shots, graduation and prom photography, and what she describes as “boring wedding shots.”
This photo shoot was originally planned for four days, but people who fell through at the last minute resulted in the completion of the entire shoot in one day. For the entire photo shoot, please visit www.redefinemag.com.
