Formerly known as the Pale, the Pale Pacific’s name change reminds me too much of the horrendous pop-punk band, Amber Pacific. Had I not known of the name change, I probably would have skipped right by the Pale Pacific at the record store. Negative association. The opening track, “Sucker Punch,” is great, and is reminiscent of the Pale we’re used to, but it’s the only outstanding track, rendering the EP hardly worth purchasing. It shouldn’t mean much, though, considering their kick-ass debut album, Gravity Gets Things Done. The Pale Pacific is capable of much more than this, and I’m just glad that these tracks were wasted on an EP and not on an actual album.
