Madness! Eric Copeland Single, Black Dice Music Video + Blues Control LP, FRKWYS w/ Laraaji

MADNESS!
A recurring series of audio WTFs and head-twitching, spine-tingling experimental or chaotic fun (k-k+st)icks.

Eric Copeland

Does it sound like Black Dice? It sure does. That’s because it is Black Dice — or, at least, it’s a core member of Black Dice gone solo without sacrificing the madness. Eric Copeland’s album single for Limbo, “Louie, Louie, Louie” is like a more restrained but just as chaotic and visually-evocative counterpart to any Black Dice Song, and the album cover alone speaks volumes about the tendecy of this music. It’s a burst of pattern, certainly not lacking in energy and intricacy, but lacking a wee bit o’ color (I’m still comparing it to Black Dice, though, not to Coldplay). Limbo comes out June 5th on Underwater Peoples. Tracklisting for Limbo below, where you can also stream the entirety of his previous album, Waco Taco Combo!

LIMBO TRACKLISTING
1. Double Reverse Psychology
2. Louie, Louie, Louie
3. Muckaluk
4. Fiesta Muerta
5. Tarzan and the Dizzy Devils
6. Lemons

Black Dice

Today’s a big day for Black Dice; their new video for “Rodriguez” has just dropped, their national tour kicks off today, and they have announced a limited 7″ for “Rodriguez” and the b-side “Pissed In A Cave.” Art by band member Bjorn Copeland, and it will be available on tour! As with their last video for “Pigs,” which you can see HERE, this isa colorful, barfy collage of images. Once again, a summary courtesy of YouTube’s comedians:

“I feel like this is what it would be like to drink Powerthirst and then get high…” – soyraison
vs.
“Having done that I can say that this is slightly more intense.” – LokiGuitar
&
“240p all the way” – fuckmaster1997
vs.
“1080p, thank heavens. thank you” – PerryNoydicus

Blues Control

Blues Control have recently signed to Drag City and will be releasing Valley Tangents on June 19th. The album title Valley Tangents kinda sums it up. Prog-psych all-over-the-place-ness meandering up and down valleys of different genre types, sometimes like a bad ’80s TV show theme, sometimes like a sci-fi movie paired with elevator music. Anything, whatever, where? It’s cool. Don’t worry about it.
