Scotland’s electronic post-rockers Errors and Toronto experimental dance duo Crystal Castles return with new singles, “Relics” and “Plague”, and full-lengths coming Fall 2012.

Errors

“Relics”, the new track from Scotland’s Errors, places new emphasis on vocals and restrained use of sonics. Synth lines that double-back between bubbling and ticking along provide a hypnotic undertone to the track, which shows the same amount of restrain that Errors have always had, but with only subtle drama. Their 8-track New Relics mini-album will be released in October via Rock Action Records, and 200 lucky people will receive a VHS counterpart that shows footage of the band’s collaboration with Rachel Maclean and other visual artists. Maclean was the director for the insane animated video for “Pleasure Palaces”, which you can see below, for a dizzying whirl through internet icons, computer pixels, and face-painted real human beings!

Crystal Castles

Toronto’s Crystal Castles were seen everywhere after the releases of their last two albums, both self-titled, in 2010 and 2008. Comprised of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass, the duo did well for themselves in earning a reputation for frenzied live shows, copyright controversies, and a decidedly “indie” aesthetic. 2012 finds them returning “Suffocation” from February of this year, followed by the just released and much more dramatic “Plague”. Glass’ repeating of “I am plague,” set atop completely antagonistic instrumentals and experiments in noise, raise hopes for their Fall 2012 record, to be released on Fiction in the UK and Universal Republic/Casablanca in the U.S.

Full North American tour dates are below (a series of which are with HEALTH, followed by external links and a live performance of “Plague”, which is righteous in a most lo-fi and devilish of ways.
