Thrill Jockey’s celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2012, and their upcoming roster is incredible, incredible, incredible, with some Pacific Northwest musicians getting some love. It’s about time someone gave Golden Retriever a wider push, as they’re definitely one of Portland’s best things… we were honored enough to have them play our show not so long ago!

Here’s a quick summary of what’s coming up…

GOLDEN VOID
The union of Earthless space rock shredder Isaiah Mitchell, and Aaron Morgan and Justin Pinkerton. The band will record their debut album this winter. They have previously released a 7″ on Valley King Reords in an edition of 500.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER
Golden Retriever was formed in Portland, OR in 2008 by multi-instrumentalists Jonathan Sielaff and Matt Carlson. Golden Retriever released a handful of records and cassettes, all very limited, since their Root Strata debut in 2010.

JON PORRAS
Jon Porras (one half of Barn Owl) will bring his special brand of guitar soundscapes to Thrill Jockey. He will continue to tour and record for Barn Owl as well.

MIKE SCHEIDT
Most metal-heads will recognize Mike as the guitarist and singer of critically acclaimed metal stalwarts YOB. Mike’s solo material is dramatically different. He is currently recording his debut solo album.

PLANKTON WAT
Plankton Wat is the solo sound world of guitarist Dewey Mahood (Eternal Tapestry). Mahood has released a handful of records and cassettes, all very limited, under the Plankton Wat moniker.

KANDODO
kandodo (lower case intentional) is Simon Price from legendary British psych rock band, The Heads. He recently collaborated with Ripley of Wooden Shjips for an upcoming single on Thrill Jockey. This will be his debut release other than an edition of 100 CDRs that he sold at shows.

MAN FOREVER
John Colpitts (aka Kid Millions) is a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, composer and writer who is perhaps best known as the drummer for Oneida.
John plans on touring extensively, continuing his ensemble explorations of percussion. Past performances have included Brian Chase (Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs), James McNew (Yo La Tengo), Chris Baio (Vampire Weekend), Richard Hoffman (Sightings), Shahin Motia (Oneida, Ex Models), Sarah Richardson (Creeping Nobodies), Ryan Sawyer (Stars Like Fleas), Greg Fox (Liturgy, Guardian Alien) and many others.
