Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, Jennifer Nehrbass, Pakayla Rae Biehn Keep It Real.

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

All of the above artists are currently on display at Thinkspace Gallery in the gallery’s The New Reality show. I’ve got to say… this is an impressive collection of hyperreal paintings, each artist with his or her own unique bent. I love that each of these oil paintings are made more fascinating by slight visual or contextual adornments. Works by Nathan DeYoung and Linnea Strid are also on display, all through the end of December.

2010 Vice Photo Show

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

I guess it seemed only inevitable that Vice Magazine and Scion (purveyors of some pretty rad multi-disciplinary art shows these days) would converge on a project, and that they have. August 14th through September 4th, The 2010 Vice Photo Show will be taking place, and for any of you who’ve ever picked up a copy of Vice’s annual photo issue, you know you’re guaranteed to see a wide array of photos, from the gnarliest and crustiest to the most beautiful and demure. Well, maybe not so demure.

Opening reception: Saturday, August 14th, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Open bar and complimentary valet. Fancy!

Featuring:
Angela Boatwright, Asger Carlsen, Jonnie Craig, Jackson Eaton, Seth Fluker, Nicholas Haggard, Jerry Hsu, Kevin Long, Ross McDonnell, Sophie Mörner, Patrick O’Dell, Alex Olson, Valerie Phillips, Jared Ritz, Lele Saveri, RJ Shaugnessy, David Benjamin Sherry, Peter Sutherland, Patrick Tsai, Sean Vegezzi and Gavin Watson.

“Well There You Are” Solo Show – Seth Armstrong

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

I’m not sure what the linking ideological components are in Seth Armstrong‘s debut solo show at Thinkspace Gallery (6009 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA), but the pieces certainly share linking feels and color palettes. And if these pieces below are any indication of the caliber of the pieces that will be on display, it seems one can definitely expect some pretty engaging things.

Opening reception Saturday, August 7th, at Thinkspace’s Project Room.

Eukundayo’s Joy Today, Jeopardy Tomorrow & Brett Amory’s The Waiting Room!

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Two brilliant shows on display simultaneously at ThinkSpace (6009 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA), now through July 2nd.

Ekundayo

Ekundayo combines street art with fine art in a melange of acrylic paint, spraypaint, watercolor, and ink on watercolor paper adhered onto a wood panel. All of these new works from this year are fairly large-scale and impressive in their seamless blend of mediums.

Brett Amory

Brett Amory’s minimalistic paintings oil paintings use negative space tremendously, blending walls into ground into sky. He turns ordinary cityscape shots into interesting, only somewhat recognizable corner stores and markets.

Good Ol’ Andy Haynes @ The Hive Gallery!

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

TONIGHT, Andy Haynes has his first show of 2010. He will be showing his works at the The Hive Gallery in Culver City, California. It will be a multimedia event featuring live bands and performances, and will run from 8:00pm to 1:00am. Make it out if you can. The show will feature an installation of 45 new pieces by Haynes right near the entrance of the gallery. If that flyer isn’t enticing enough, you’re just crazy. :D
