Vivian Hua (華婷婷) wears a lot of random hats, but has somewhat mastered globetrotting like a hobo and evading traditional 9-to-5 work schedules. She enjoys observing human idiosyncrasies perhaps more than anything and is a magnet for homeless people (a joy) and bug bites of all types (absolutely terrible). Through her work, she hopes to embrace the temporary while documenting the nostalgic, using divination and dream symbolism as guides through the cosmic maze. Additional writing, art, video, and other crap, like her astrological chart, can be seen at www.inallthings-patterns.net. She is the Editor-in-Chief of REDEFINE magazine, and quite appreciates unsolicited personal e-mails just to shoot the shit and narrow the gaps between human beings.

Moodoïd – Je Suis la Montagne Music Video (w/ Band & Director Interviews in French & English)

In the music video for “Je Suis la Montagne”, psychedelic art rockers Moodoïd have collaborated with director Jérôme Walter Gueguen a true work of surrealist-inspired art. With a relatively minimal budget and ample film school training, they’ve turned childhood recollections of mountains into a Magritte-coloured world of soil-covered faces and tasteful (as well as tasty)...Read...

Jonny Rodgers – Let It Fill Your Whole Heart MP3 Download & Premiere

An occasional touring member of the rambunctious indie band Son Lux, solo musician Jonny Rodgers makes music that seems to echo his idyllic Pacific Northwest lifestyle. Living on a farm in Eugene, Oregon’s hippie capital, one certainly can’t accuse Rodgers of being lyrically cryptic. As though his cheerful swells of indie folk weren’t enough to...Read...

MGMT – Your Life Is A Lie Music Video + Interview w/ Director Tom Kuntz

In his second music video for MGMT, director Tom Kuntz — one of the geniuses behind the classic “Tokyo Breakfast” sketch — incorporates humor the way he knows best: by using a wide net of characters with endless bite-size appeal. Sun-baked hippies, suited businessmen, three-dimensionally-rendered babies and skeletons… and so randomly on… repetitively hammer home...Read...

Midday Veil, ALTO! Live Show Review (Portland, OR)

The sixteeth installment of Experimental Portland's on-going concert series took place at Rotture on a humid Wednesday night, and for $5, featured an amazing lineup consisting of Midday Veil, ALTO!, and Antecessor. I apologize to the internet and myself for having missed what was supposedly an amazing set by Antecessor -- but the remainder of...

MusicfestNW 2013 Live Show Review: Tobacco, Natasha Kmeto, Royal Canoe (Portland, OR)

MusicfestNW began for me like every other MusicfestNW experience. I consistently respect the festival's curatorial efforts, which always yield at least a handful of acts I am excited about, and an even larger smattering that I don't exactly care for but greatly approve of from an objective standpoint. This year, however, I decided to take...
