Vivian Hua (華婷婷) wears a lot of random hats, but has somewhat mastered globetrotting like a hobo and evading traditional 9-to-5 work schedules. She enjoys observing human idiosyncrasies perhaps more than anything and is a magnet for homeless people (a joy) and bug bites of all types (absolutely terrible). Through her work, she hopes to embrace the temporary while documenting the nostalgic, using divination and dream symbolism as guides through the cosmic maze. Additional writing, art, video, and other crap, like her astrological chart, can be seen at www.inallthings-patterns.net. She is the Editor-in-Chief of REDEFINE magazine, and quite appreciates unsolicited personal e-mails just to shoot the shit and narrow the gaps between human beings.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – “Trouble” Music Video (w/ Q&A Interview)

This video for Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaur’s “Trouble” resides mostly in a David Lynchian universe, with heroined-out slow-motion vibes. Interspliced, however, are quick flickering shots of TEED (Orlando Higginbottom) being adorned with mysterious headdresses — an art form that has become a staple in TEED’s videos. The pieces featured in this video include a geometric...Read...

GROUPLOVE – “Colours” Music Video

GROUPLOVE’s video for “Colours” starts off on a high note, with excellent film quality, intro credits, and a loose storyline. Unfortunately, it soon descends into hipster ridiculousness, full of face paint, feathers, and images of frolicking through fields. I wish I could have liked it, but I don’t… it’s just everything I’ve seen in every...Read...

Youth Lagoon – Montana Music Video

Tyler T. Williams directs this cinematic epic for Youth Lagoon’s “Montana,” perhaps capturing a snippet from the life and mind of Youth Lagoon’s Trevor Powers. Says Powers: “My whole life I’ve dealt with extreme anxiety. Not anxiety about passing a test or somewhat normal things, but weird.. bizarre things. Things that only I know. I...Read...

Twin Sister – “Bad Street” Music Video

On a recent trip to New York City, my friend had mentioned that Latin American families seem to bring their children just about everywhere to have a good time. Whether it be in a park at midnight or a used bookstore, it’s more the notion of family and celebrating togetherness than it is the context....Read...
