shannon wiedey

music writer (seattle, wa) . staff member since 2010

Shannon learned about music the hard way, by watching grannies throw their panties at Tom Jones (at her first and most unforgettable concert). Raised by a '60s/'70s music fanatic, she was fascinated by the world of music. Growing into her own musical tastes in the '90s, she held on to her mother’s favorites while expanding to bands like Weezer, Nirvana, and Green Day. Today, she loves a good singer-songwriter and also thoroughly enjoys bigger production pop and rock music. Shannon has a degree in Psychology and Philosophy and is an amateur poet. Because of these things, she finds special importance in song lyrics, always looking to pick them apart.

favorite musicians: James Taylor, The Beatles, Fiona Apple, Emily Haines, Jenny Lewis, Modest Mouse, Sufjan Stevens, and most recently, Friendly Fires, Phoenix, and The xx.

She has written 12 album reviews for REDEFINE. Below are the most recent ones.
