108

Creation. Sustenance. Destruction. (Equal Vision Records)

The all white packaging of 108’s album, Creation. Sustanence. Destruction. gives the album the feel of a clean slate. Perhaps this is the idea, since the album booklet is full of information about the band’s complicated history of break-ups, hold-ups, and conversions to the Hare Krishna religion. It almost seems as though the band has reached a stage where they’re comfortable enough to look back on the past and move forward. For the band’s fans, this album truly is a great thing to have.

108 may not appeal to some hardcore fans in this day and age, but they are a band to look back upon when one wants to see how far the scene has come. Like them or hate them, their music is evidence that, despite the current shallow state of hardcore, real topics can and have been addressed.
