OHN
Revolutionary Revolution (Self-Released)
Well, this is just the most unrevealing album artwork I've ever received, I think. First off, I thought that Revolutionary Revolution was the band's name, so I was expecting some kind of unoriginal political punk rockers who love mother Russia. Turns out Revolutionary Revolution is actually the name of the album, and OHN, the band, is nothing like I had expected.
OHN is as far away from punk rock as possible. They are electronica-influenced rock that you'd sooner find at a lounge than at a bar. With a female vocalist leading the pack, OHN relies on atmospherics and relatively mellow backdrops to set the stage. Every song sounds completely different, with downtempo, jazz, rock, and electronic influences. Fans of downtempo and acid jazz will like OHN. Generally, I'd say the instrumentals are better than the vocals, but electronica-influenced music seems to love vapid vocals. What can you do?
