Scenes From A Movie

Self-Titled (One Big Spark)

Scenes From A Movie has amazingly minimal cover artwork. No wonder, since they have a separate individual simply for art direction! Judging from the cover and the relatively interesting name of the band, I expected great things. Or, if not great, at least somewhat innovative.

In reality, the album one of the most generic albums I've heard in a while. That's saying a lot. Musically, it's generic in every aspect. From the first track, "Just Ask Us," I can only think of the band as being a Fall Out Boy rip-off. But, they're decidedly worse than Fall Out Boy, since Fall Out Boy did it first. And Fall Out Boy may be overplayed, but Scenes From A Movie will never get that chance; they're not catchy enough. After the first track, comparisons between Scenes and Fall Out Boy stop, but that doesn't stop the thought that this band is not original. Maybe there's something good here, but I doubt it. Because my ears are bleeding, I'd rather not listen to the album again to figure that out.
