The Big Tease
Paper Symphony (Self-Released)
Paper Symphony is The Big Tease's most recent release, and the album artwork features a black and white photo of an intricate old music organ. The simple vintage look is instantly intruiging, and makes me look forward to the six track EP.
The first track, "Requiem In A Major," is merely an intro. Whether you'll like this will probably depend on, well, whether you like short, instrumental intros. It seems a little silly to have an intro on a 19 minute album, though! "Casanova" is the second track, and probably the highlight of the album. It is a cabaret-styled piano ditty, and its upbeat nature is instantly favorable. The song is poppy, yet different from mainstream pop. That's a good thing. The rest of the album, however, attempts to recreate the same mood, but does not do so on the same level.
The only other noteworthy track is the last track, "November Left," which is essentially a piano ballad. If you're into this kind of music, I suggest you listen to Gary Reynolds And The Brides of Obscurity. It seems the Big Tease still has a long way to go with their music. As this album is supposedly an improvement upon their last, I hope with their next, they'll fine tune their style even more.
