Tag Archives: psychedelic

The term “psychedelic” is derived from the Greek words ψυχή (psyche, “soul”) and δηλοῦν (deloun, “to manifest”), translating to “soul-manifesting”. A psychedelic experience is characterized by the striking perception of aspects of one’s mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ostensibly ordinary fetters. Psychedelic states are an array of experiences including changes of perception such as hallucinations, synesthesia, altered states of awareness or focused consciousness, variation in thought patterns, trance or hypnotic states, mystical states, and other mind alterations. (Wikipedia)

The use of the keyword “psychedelic” on REDEFINE will encompass psychedelia’s role in music, film, art, multimedia, and movement.

Bumbershoot 2011 : Festival Recap, Day Two

The Bumbershoot Festival always throws together one of the more eclectic line-ups in the nation, with a fair combination of “must see”‘s, “I’ve heard about them”‘s, and “who the hell are these people”‘s spanning across all genres in the musical world. So, with a packed schedule, and a surprisingly gorgeous summer weekend in Seattle’s hands,...Read...

Prince Rama Tour With Gang Gang Dance, Share New Karaoke Video

Drawing from a collective mine of times and spaces, Prince Rama (made up of sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson) takes the threads of ancient symbolism and ritual and weaves a surreal universe that is wholly their own. Ganglians – Still Living Album Review

Although, the sophomore album from Ganglians opens with the perplexing dedication, “This is a sad sad song for all you sad sad people,” it quickly becomes evident that the objective of the album is actually to brighten up lives with the right touch of reverb and sun-drenched melodies. As the voice of lead singer Ryan...Read...

Gardens & Villa – “Spacetime” Music Video

Peer through crystal balls and tunnel through holes full of religious iconography, facepaint, starry lights, and animation. This video for “Spacetime” is reminiscent of some kind of cross between shamanistic rituals, voodoo magick, and goofball schtick, just like these metaphysical-minded chumbawumbas. Simultaneously playful and deep, Gardens & Villa are pretty much the best combination ever.

Young Circles – Jungle Habits Album Review

There’s something to be said about an album so arcane and compelling that writing an introduction to the review proves paralyzing. Young Circles’ Jungle Habits deserves an amazing lead, a pull-quote worthy of print, but I’m left rather motionless at the keyboard. Jungle Habits‘ spiritual rhythm and dynamic approach to songwriting makes the album one...Read...
