Kiel Johnson Made A Cardboard Printing Press

There are quite a few artists out there making very impressive works out of cardboard, but Kiel Johnson’s incredible functional sculptures are hard to top. For his show Publish or Perish at Mark Moore Gallery, Johnson made a fully articulated printing press, accompanied by a working cardboard camera and other equally impressive objects.

Textiles are amongst the most wasteful items human beings consume on a regular basis, so why not turn ugly secondhand clothing into art? Derick Melander does it. Stacks of textiles are oriented by color to create neat vertical columns that practically paintings when viewed from afar, complete with drips and all.
